Texas Ranch Water: Our Summer Favorite

Summertime has us dreaming of vacations and refreshing cocktails. Whether we are poolside, beachside or porch sitting, our favorite go to cocktail is Ranch Water. It is light and refreshing with a hint of effervescence. The ingredients are fresh and simple without added sugars. Your waistline will thank you later.

Choosing your tequila may be the hardest decision of the day. We like them all...Blanco, Resposado and Añejo. Blanco has a lighter more citrusy profile. Resposado and Añejo are barrel aged longer imparting bolder spicier notes and darker colors. Whichever you choose, be sure it's a premium or top shelf brand or you may find yourself feeling like a squeezed lime. Premium and top shelf tequilas are made in the Jalisco region of Mexico using traditional farming and distilling methods. They are made with 100% agave and aged 3 years or longer. If you're on a budget, Suerte brand tequilas are an excellent choice.  If budget and tequila don’t belong in the same sentence, try Petron Extra Añejo.

Before preparing your Ranch Water, be sure to choose a glass with a wide rim for the Tajín rimmer. This is like salting the rim of a margarita glass. Run a cut lime around the rim of the glass and dip it into the Tajín to create a beautiful and tasty glass rim.

Now, it is time to squeeze the limes, mix it all together, top it off with a splash of Topo Chico water and get started on your mini summer vacation in a glass!

Salud!
